Banner Properties was started in 2014 as a real estate investment and development partnership between John Howard and Scott Tyrone. They paired up for the Banner Lofts renovation and the name stuck. Banner Lofts itself was named for the historic Nashville newspaper (The Banner) which was once located there; they are proud to continue the legacy of the name.
SCOTT TYRONE, Partner/Co-Founder
Scott's Nashville real estate career dates back to 1995 and the Capital Markets area, first with Mellon Mortgage Co. and then FINOVA Realty Capital, where he arranged financing consisting of equity placements, bridge loans, mezzanine debt, construction loans, and long-term, fixed-rate debt. In 2000, Scott began focusing exclusively on multi-family brokerage, working in the area for more than 15 years, most recently with ARA Newmark.
Throughout his brokerage career, Scott has executed acquisitions and dispositions for both institutional and private capital clients in excess of $1.5 billion. Scott has also been involved in acquisition, development, re-development, and condo conversions totaling $100 million.
Originally a native of New Orleans, Scott received a BA from Vanderbilt University in Nashville where he has resided now for over 25 years with his wife and three children. Scott holds the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation, signifying an advanced understanding of commercial investment real estate.
JOHN HOWARD, Partner/Co-Founder
John Howard has been a Nashville resident for 20 years and worked in the construction and real estate development industry for over 25 years. He has a hands-on background in all aspects of residential and commercial real estate development, from concept to execution, and sale of the finished product. John has constructed and developed multifamily, single family, townhome, short-term rental, office, retail, medical, restaurant and self-storage complexes totaling over $800 million.
Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, John was first introduced to the construction industry while growing up, where he helped his father in the commercial concrete business. After graduating from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and captaining the golf team, John joined a local contracting firm, overseeing construction of large and small projects throughout the Southeast.
After moving to Nashville in 2001, John began working for a local general contractor while simultaneously developing small real estate projects on his own. Building on his knowledge of construction and business, John has grown his real estate development business into what Banner Properties is today. John resides in Nashville with his wife and three children, where he is an active philanthropist and contributor to the community.
